The Fine Arts department has wrapped up the first big events of the year.

The Field Band went to TAPPS Competition with members of Encore and the Bella’s Captain Lauren Rutt on October 23.  Brentwood put on the largest show in competition with nearly 80 students on the field at some point in the show.

There were 27 bands in competition, and only 7 of them were able to earn a superior rating. Not only was Brentwood one of the 7, but they earned the Superior Rating for all three judges.  Points earned from this event will roll over to the spring semester when we work to defend the 4A State Championship.

The One Act Play competition immediately followed on Friday and Saturday Oct. 27/28 in San Antonio.  The performance earned high praise from the judge and took 4th place overall in competition.  The Stage Crew was awarded a coveted All-Star Crew for their work on lighting, sound, staging and costuming.  Four members of the cast also earned individual awards.  Roy Zou and Landon Hejl earned Honorable Mention Cast awards and Carolina Aranda and Shaye Maleare were recognized as All-Star Cast.

The Department is in a short reset as we get ready for the next phase of the year.  Band and Choir have concerts in December.  5th through 8th grade band, choir and art show will be Monday Dec. 4th.  The High School band, choir, and art show will be on Thursday Dec 7th.  The Elementary Christmas Concert (including 4th grade this year) is Thursday Dec 14.  Tickets will go on sale soon.

Drama classes are resetting to begin auditions for this year’s musical.  We will be performing Willy Wonka next semester and auditions will be within the next few weeks.  Details will go out to all of the high school students soon.  Auditions are open to all high school students.

I hope you enjoy the cooler weather, and I can wait for this next season in the Arts.
