Explore the world of art at Brentwood Christian School, where students are encouraged to express themselves creatively while honoring God’s creation.
Junior High Art, available to 7th and 8th graders, challenges students to deepen their understanding of art elements and principles. This elective course, meeting every other day, encourages creativity and critical thinking through hands-on projects, discussions, and critiques. Students learn that art theories and concepts reflect the principles underlying the world God created, fostering a strong connection between their creative work and their faith.
Art I is an introductory course that builds foundational skills in art elements and principles, perfect for students new to art. Students explore various dry mediums, learn art history, and discuss its influence on Christianity. Participation in TAPPS competitions is encouraged to showcase their growth and creativity.
Art II allows students to further develop their skills and experiment with a wider range of techniques and mediums. With a deeper exploration of art history and its connection to Christian values, students refine their artistic abilities and prepare pieces for competitions.
Contract Art is designed for advanced students ready to pursue independent projects. They create their own proposals, critique their work, and mentor younger students. This course emphasizes self-direction and critical analysis, culminating in a personal portfolio and participation in TAPPS and TCSIT competitions.
