Bus Driver

Transport students to and from school-sponsored events including sporting events, field trips, community service events and fine arts/academic competitions. Drivers will be compensated at $25 per hour. Parents of BCS students may earn VIP hours in lieu of monetary compensation.

Drivers must:

  • Consent to a criminal background check
  • Be at least 21 years of age,
  • Have a valid commercial driver license (CDL) with passenger endorsement,
  • Proof of vehicle liability insurance,
  • and an acceptable driving record.

Brentwood Christian School will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL for interested parties without a valid license. Licensure must be obtained within three months of acceptance.

Extended Day Instructor

Reports To: Extended Day Director Part-Time

Classification:  Non-Exempt School Year

Summary: Responsible for supervising, nurturing and caring for children participating in the extended day program.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage student classroom and playground activities; assisting with homework as needed
  • Foster a positive, Christian environment actively engaging with students to help develop them for Christ
  • Monitor student behavior and respond appropriately to violations of program policy. Administer rewards program when appropriate
  • Effectively communicate with parents about student behavior and progress
  • Support and promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred
  • Must be an active member in a Church of Christ congregation SPECIAL

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of child development concepts
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch as well as reach overhead
  • May occasionally be required to climb on playground equipment.
  • Ability to respond quickly to students in need of assistance

Secondary Art & Yearbook Teacher (6-12)

Reports To: Fine Arts Director

Classification:  Full-Time, Exempt; School Year

Summary: Provide instruction for 6th – 12th grade art education that will meet and exceed
appropriate state and national standards for the subject and grade level.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement art education lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the
    school’s curriculum program, including art instruction, secondary yearbook, and
    photography
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and
    technology to engage students and increase understanding of the subject matter
  • Integrate Biblical Christian perspective into curriculum and instruction while continuously serving as an example and positive role model for students
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for spiritual,
    physical and social development of students
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress including formative and summative
    data. Work with parents to improve student progress and address disciplinary issues
  • Coordinate and manage co-curricular events including art competitions.
  • Work cooperatively with the department to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods for student achievement
  • Support and promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in art, art education or related field
  • Must have valid teacher certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire
  • Must have 1-3 years of experience in the subject matter. Master’s degree in art or
    related field may substitute for experience
  • Must be an active member in a Church of Christ congregation

  • Knowledge of art history and different art genres
  • Ability to communicate concrete and abstract concepts

Salary:

Guest Teacher

  • Less than 6.0 hours = $12.50-$15.63 per hour
  • 6.0 hours or more = $100-125 per day
  • Long Term Faculty Assignments – $140 per day

Clerical Substitute

  • 6.0 hours or more = $80 per day

  • $10.00 per hour

Student Tutor – After School Program

Reports To: Program Director

Classification:  Part-Time Non-Exempt; School Year

Summary: To assist students in targeted subject areas via small group tutoring.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Provide clear and helpful instruction to students in targeted subject areas
  • Show diligent attention to information and instructions provided by Brentwood Christian teachers and work within their guidelines
  • Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
  • Complete a report on each tutoring session within required format and submit to program director
  • Model and encourage effective study strategies
  • Create and manage resources
  • Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Previous tutoring experience preferred but not required
  • Minimum Education: High school graduate enrolled in university courses and in good standing Minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 3.0 with an A or B in related courses
  • Must be an active member of a Christian church; Church of Christ preferred

EL3/EL4 PRESCHOOL TEACHER

EL3/EL4 Preschool is a full-day class for children three to four years of age. This class is five days per week during regular school hours and prepares students to enter kindergarten or an EL4 classroom the following year.

REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time; Exempt; School Year

SUMMARY: To provide preschool students with a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate learning environment that prepares them for kindergarten

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and implement a developmentally appropriate preschool program
  • Develop a class schedule and routines
  • Integrate Biblical Christian perspective into curriculum and activities
  • Communicate regularly with parents
  • Support and promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in education or childhood development
  • Must have a valid teacher or early childhood education certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Must be an active member of a Church of Christ congregation

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of the developmental levels of young children
  • Strong interpersonal skills with children and adults
  • Creativity and energy in working with young children
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Elementary Teacher 1st Grade

REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time; Exempt; School Year

SUMMARY: To provide support to the instructional process by supervising students within the classroom and school; developing lesson plans and delivering instruction within established curriculum guidelines; assessing student progress; and supporting the school in its stated mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement engaging lessons that meet the requirements of the school’s curriculum and standards and reflect differentiation in student learning styles and abilities
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and technology to engage students and promote understanding and content mastery
  • Integrate Biblical Christian perspective into curriculum and instruction
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for spiritual, physical and social development of students
  • Assess student progress towards learning goals and objectives for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration
  • Collaborate and participate in meetings and professional development for the purpose of improving student learning and to more effectively achieve the school’s stated mission
  • Communicate regularly with parents
  • Support and promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education
  • Valid teacher certification or in the process of obtaining
  • Google Classroom certification preferred

EL3/EL4 Teachers Aide

REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal/Classroom Teacher

CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time; Non-Exempt; School Year

SUMMARY: To work directly in a support role to the classroom teacher and provide assistance in the classroom including, but not limited to supervision and care of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise students
  • Provide instruction to students under the teacher’s supervision
  • Perform clerical work
  • Prepare materials and equipment for instruction and activities
  • Support and promote the mission and core beliefs of BCS
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in a related field; A bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Teaching certification or previous experience working with children
  • Must be an active member in a Church of Christ congregation

  • Strong interpersonal skills with children and adults
