Chris Allen, who teaches secondary computer, is new to Brentwood Christian School this year. Chis received his B.S. in Electronic Media from Abilene Christian University and has two years of experience in videography and digital media in Abilene and Austin. We welcome him to BCS!
Linda Allen, teaching Kindergarten for the thirteenth year at BCS, has 18 years of elementary teaching experience. She holds the B.S. Ed. from Abilene Christian University and is certified. Linda and her husband Kevin attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and are parents of two BCS graduates.
Geri Archer, first grade teacher, has 26 years of teaching experience and is in her seventeenth year at BCS. She holds the B.S. Ed. from ACU and is certified. The mother of two BCS students and two graduates, Geri is the co-recipient of 1999 TCSA grant for Christian education. She and her husband Craig attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ. She was recipient of the President’s School Spirit Award in 2010.
Kristen Berry, teaching Chemistry and Physics for the fourth year at BCS, holds the Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University and has completed her coursework for certification. Kristen and her husband Seth, a BCS alumnus, attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Summer Best teaches elementary computer and serves as an aide for the third grade teachers. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from ACU and has taught for many years in the BCS preschool program, Children’s Ark. Summer and her husband Clint have four sons, all BCS students, and they attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Michele Broadway, teacher of mathematics and Bible, holds the Bachelor’s of Music Education from ACU. Michele is a certified teacher with fourteen years of experience teaching band and secondary math and science in Texas public schools; this is her ninth year at BCS. Michele and her husband Mark attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Alicia Brothers, Spanish teacher, has a B.A in Linguistics and an M.A. in Foreign Language Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a certified teacher with several years of experience in other schools, and she is in her fourth
year at BCS. She and her husband Steve are parents of two BCS students and attend the University Avenue Church of Christ.
Carolyn B’Smith is teaching third grade for the sixteenth year at BCS. She holds a B.A. from David Lipscomb University, is certified, and has nineteen years of teaching experience in Tennessee and Texas on both secondary and elementary levels. Carolyn and her husband Kit are parents of two BCS graduates, and they attend the Westside Church of Christ, where Kit serves as an elder.
Sylvia Burcham, a first grade teacher, is in her tenth year at BCS. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from ACU with reading and early childhood endorsements and is a certified teacher. Sylvia and her husband Jay, who serves on the BCS Board of Trustees, are parents of three current BCS students. They attend the Westside Church of Christ.
Chloe Campbell, teaching English for the eighth year at BCS, holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (secondary education, English, and theater arts) from Lubbock Christian University and is certified. Chloe and her husband Andrew and preschool son attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Kendra Dean is teaching Spanish for her first year at BCS and has two years of previous experience teaching Spanish and AP Calculus. She holds a B.A. in Spanish from Texas A&M University and is certified. Kendra and her husband Dex have recently moved to the area from Fredericksburg.
Cynthia Davis, who teaches fifth grade, holds a B.B.A. from Abilene Christian University and is a certified teacher. She previously served as BCS Director of Admissions and Special Events and is now in her twelfth year in the classroom. Cynthia and her husband Glenn are parents of a BCS graduate and a current first grader. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Evelyn Ellis, who is teaching third grade for the tenth year at BCS, holds a B.S. in Education from ACU and is certified. Evelyn is a veteran of 27 years in Christian education, mostly in California, where she served in administration as well as the classroom. Evelyn and her husband David are parents of two BCS graduates, and they attend Westside Church of Christ.
Kaleen Graessle, in her twentieth year as a mathematics teacher at BCS, has 22 years of teaching experience. She holds a B.S. in Physics and an M.A. in Education from ACU. Kaleen heads the BCS mathematics department. She was named TCSA Teacher of the Year in 1999. She and her husband Scott are parents of three BCS students. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Tere Hager, elementary librarian, holds a B.S. in Education from ACU and a Master’s in Library Science from TWU. A certified teacher, Tere is in her sixth year as full-time BCS faculty; she has four years of previous classroom teaching experience. She and her husband Mark are the parents of three BCS students, and they attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Brooke Hollingsworth teaches math and Bible. She has a B.S. from Harding University, a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Arts in Theology from Austin Graduate School of Theology. Brooke is in her fourth year at BCS. She and her husband Brent are parents of two BCS students and attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Sharon Howard is teaching kindergarten for her sixteenth year overall and her third year at BCS. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from ACU, has completed graduate courses at Texas Women’s University, and is certified. She and her husband Richard are parents of a BCS student and attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Carrie Hunter is teaching fifth grade for the eighth year at BCS and serves as adviser for the National Elementary Honor Society. She has a B.S. in Education from Oklahoma Christian University and is certified in both elementary and secondary. Carrie was an honor graduate of BCS in 2001 and sang in Encore. She attends the Round Rock Church of Christ.
Cynthia Hutson is teaching second grade for her third year at BCS; she has many years of teaching experience in public schools. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from ACU and a Master’s of Science from Texas Women’s University and is certified. Cynthia and her husband Darrell are parents of three BCS students and members of the Leander Church of Christ.
Cissy Johnson teaches eighth grade science and algebra in her eighth year at BCS. She holds the B.S. in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and is certified. Cissy and her husband Deon are the parents of a BCS graduate and are members of the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Jessica Love is in her fifth year at BCS, teaching English and Bible and serving as the yearbook adviser. A certified teacher, she holds a B.A. in English from Harding University and an M. Ed. degree from Concordia University. Jessica serves as chair of the English department and the language arts vertical team. She and her husband Joel attend Cameron Road Church of Christ.
Michelle Mallett teaches biology and forensic science. She holds a B.S. in pre-med Biology from Oklahoma Christian University and is a certified teacher. Michelle is science department chair and co-leads the science vertical team. She had nineteen years of experience in education before coming to BCS; she was named Dwain Hart Christian School Teacher of the Year in 2011 while teaching at Oklahoma Christian Academy. Michelle and her husband Jevon are parents of two BCS students.
Valerie McBride is teaching English for her first year at BCS. She received her B. A. in English Literature with a minor in Theater Arts from Texas A&M University and is a certified teacher. Valerie is an accomplished knitter and crocheter who participates in world-wide yarn bombing!
Danielle McGhee, secondary librarian, holds a B.A. in Fashion Merchandising from Howard University and an M.S. in Library Science from North Carolina Central University. She served as a graduate assistant and completed an internship in Special Collections and Archives at NCCU. She is a member of the East Side Church of Christ.
Michelle Mohrmann teaches middle school science and English and serves as middle school coordinator, returning for her seventh year on the BCS faculty. She holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Texas, is a certified teacher, and is currently in a Master’s degree program. Michelle and her husband Lee, parents of three BCS students, attend the Round Rock Church of Christ.
Lori Morin teaches art and is chair of the Fine Arts department and vertical team. She holds a B.A. in Art from SWMSU and certification from Eastern Illinois University. Lori has over twenty years of teaching experience and is in her twelfth year at BCS. She serves as TAPPS 4A state art director and was named TAPPS Fine Arts Teacher of the Year in 2006. She and her late husband Juan are parents of a BCS student and a graduate. The family attends Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Glenda Morrow, fourth grade teacher, is teaching for her fourteenth year at BCS. She holds a B.S. in Education from North Texas State University and is certified. Glenda co-leads the science vertical team. She and her husband Mark are parents of three BCS graduates. They attend the Leander Church of Christ, where Mark serves as an elder.
Cindy Nestor teaches in the fourth grade classroom. She has a B.B.A. from University of Houston and certification from LeTourneau University. Cindy has taught five years in Children’s Ark and over two years on the BCS faculty. She and her husband Mike are parents of a BCS student and a graduate, and the family attends Westside Church of Christ.
Sandy Patterson, second grade teacher, is in her eleventh year at BCS and has thirteen years of prior experience. Sandy has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Southwestern University and is certified. She and her husband Dale are parents of a BCS graduate and a current student. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
David Peyton, P.E. and Bible teacher and coach, holds a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M and an M.S. in missions from ACU. He is a certified P.E. instructor and is a member of TAHPERD. He served 11 years as a missionary in the Philippines and is teaching and coaching for the seventh year at BCS. David and his wife Karen are parents of two current BCS students and a graduate.
Karen Peyton teaches middle school math, English, and Bible in her eighth year on the BCS faculty. She holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics and a B.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M, and she is certified. Karen and her husband David are parents of two current BCS students and a graduate. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Travis Pollard, band director, holds the B.M. in Music Education from Tennessee Tech and the M. M. from UT Austin. A certified teacher, Travis also teaches music history, Bible, and 4th grade music. He has two years’ teaching experience in Tennessee and is in his seventh year at BCS. Travis was the recipient of the President’s School Spirit Award in 2009. He and his wife Amanda attend the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
J. D. Robson received his Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Abilene Christian University and is beginning his teaching career this year at Brentwood Christian. He also played basketball at ACU and at Cedar Park High School and completed a basketball coaching internship at ACU. He has served for five summers at Pine Cove Christian Camps as a counselor, a senior counselor, and (this summer) as program director.
Cindy Singleton directs the BCS theater department, teaches speech and health, and coaches oral events for interscholastic competition. She holds a B.A. in linguistics from UT Austin and is certified; she is in her twenty-first year at BCS. She and her husband Kent are parents of two BCS graduates and three current students. They attend Travis Peak Church of Christ.
Paul Sladek, who teaches P.E. and coaches softball, holds a B.S. in Communications from ACU and is completing P.E. certification. Paul is a member of TAHPERD and NFCA. He is an ACE and NFHS certified softball coach. This is Paul’s sixth year of teaching at BCS, which he attended K-12. He previously taught in Lockhart ISD. Paul attends Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Becky Stewart, middle school English and history teacher, is in her 41st year of teaching and her 35th year at BCS. She holds a B.A. from the University of Iowa and a Master’s of Education from UT Austin and is certified. Becky was named the first TCSA Teacher of the Year in 1991 for Outstanding Contributions to Christian Education. She attends Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Sondra Strietelmeier, teacher of K-3 music, holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from ACU and a Master’s of Music in vocal performance from UT Austin. She completed one year and a practicum toward a Master’s in Music Therapy at SMU. She is teaching for the sixteenth year at BCS. Sondra and her husband Fred are parents of a BCS graduate and attend Westside Church of Christ.
Diane Troutman, Kindergarten teacher, has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Harding and is certified. Diane has over nine years of K-1 experience and three years of experience as an aide at BCS. She and her husband Brant are parents of two BCS students and attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Missy Weaver, who teaches music and directs all choirs and Encore, is teaching for the sixteenth year at BCS. She has a B.A. in Music Ed. from Lubbock Christian University and is certified. Missy was named TAPPS Fine Arts Teacher of the Year in 2003 and TCSA Teacher of the year in 2010. She has taken high school choirs to seven state championships. Missy attends Cameron Road Church of Christ.
Jonathan Weed serves as adviser for the Bear Facts school newspaper, which was the TAPPS 2009 and 2010 State 4A champion. Now in his fourteenth year at BCS, he also teaches history, geography, economics, journalism, and Bible. Jonathan graduated from BCS, holds a B.A. in History from ACU and a B.J. in Journalism from UT Austin, and is certified. He and his wife Amber are parents of two preschoolers. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Sandy Wiles, Academic Adviser, had over five years of previous teaching and administrative experience in Christian schools before coming to BCS, where she has taught for six years. She holds a B.B.A. in Business Education from Harding University and is certified. Sandy and her husband Ben are parents of two BCS graduates and attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
