Administration
Kevin Claypool, Director of Development for BCS, holds the B. A. from York College and the M.L.A. from Abilene Christian University, where he served as a graduate instructor; he is completing doctoral studies at Pepperdine University. He is a member of the Westover Hills Church of Christ.
James Cogburn serves as Business Manager. He holds a B.B.A. in management from ACU and an M.B.A. in accounting from University of Phoenix. He and his wife April are parents of a BCS student and a preschooler. They attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Stephen Colwell, Director of Communications and coach, received a B.A. in Speech Communications from York College. He currently divides his time between BCS and Pflugerville ISD, where he is also a Communications Specialist. He and his wife Joy are parents of a newborn and attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Melanie Howell is Director of Children’s Ark, where she has served for seven years as a teacher and five years as director. She holds a B.S. from Abilene Christian University. She and her husband Pete are parents of two BCS students. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Carol Johnson, new Secondary Principal, holds a B.A. in journalism, advertising, and public relations from New Mexico State University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Texas State University. Carol has both classroom and administrative certification. She has nineteen years of experience in education, including eight years of classroom instruction, four years in curriculum and instruction, and seven years in administration. She most recently served as an Assistant Principal at Rouse High School in Leander. Carol and her husband Al are parents of two grown sons and one BCS student, and they attend East Side Church of Christ.
Devan Loftis, Middle School and Elementary Athletic Director, government teacher, and coach, has a B.A. in Social Science from Harding and has social science and coaching endorsements. Devan is returning for his thirteenth year at BCS. He and his wife Kaylee, a former BCS teacher, are parents of two BCS students and a preschooler and attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Kimberly McLain, Director of Admissions, holds a B.B.A. in marketing from the University of Texas at Tyler. Kimberly has fifteen years of corporate experience as a personal financial advisor, corporate trainer, and leadership development consultant among other roles. She and her husband Mike are parents of two BCS students and attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Marquita Moss, President, has a B.A. and M.A. from UT Austin and formerly taught in the UT Department of Journalism. Before beginning her administrative career, Marquita served five years on the first BCS board. She is now in her 34th year in BCS administration. She serves as a Trustee for the National Christian School Association and as Vice Chair of the NCSA Accreditation Commission. She serves on the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission and the board of the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools. Marquita was recipient of the TCSA Vaughn Luster Leadership Award in 2009 and the NCSA Christian Educator of the Year award in 2003. She and her husband Gary are parents of two BCS graduates and grandparents of three current BCS students. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ.
Jacob Rotich, Information Technology Director and cross country coach, has a B.B.A. and an M.B.A. from Harding University in Information Technology, with a minor in Bible. Jacob is currently in a Ph.D. program with North Central University and is in his eighth year at BCS. Jacob has won many 5K, 10K, and marathon races from Austin to Hawaii. He and his wife Hellen attend the Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ and are parents of a preschooler.
Brian Thrift, High School Athletic Director, is a graduate of Rochester College with a degree in social work and has a master’s degree in education from Abilene Christian University. He spent 11 years coaching college basketball in Michigan, Illinois, and Texas. He has served as sports information director, sports marketing director, and assistant athletic director at Rochester College. He coaches boys’ basketball and baseball at BCS. He and his wife Alyson are parents of a BCS student and a preschooler and attend Westover Hills Church of Christ.
Libby Weed is Elementary Principal and Vice President for Education. She has a B.S. in education, M.A. in English literature, and Ph.D. in educational administration from UT Austin. She holds classroom and administrative certification. Libby has over 35 years of experience in teaching and administration, including 31 years at BCS. She and her husband Michael are parents of two BCS graduates and grandparents of four current students. She was recipient of the TCSA Vaughn Luster Award for leadership in Christian education in 2006 and the NCSA Educator of the Year award in 2008. She and Michael attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, where he has served as an elder.
Mel Witcher, curriculum coordinator, head of the Bible vertical team and the Bible department, has 28 years of teaching experience and is in his 23rd year at BCS. He holds the B.M.Ed. from ACU, the M.M.Ed. from the University of North Texas, and a B.A. from Austin Graduate School of Theology and is certified in both music and social studies. Mel was named TAPPS 1998 Fine Arts Teacher of the Year. He and his wife Judy are parents of two BCS graduates and two current students. They attend Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, where Mel serves as an elder.
